I have decided on Hexie MF fabrics.
Domestic Bliss was most popular in votes, and with my husband. I usually don't ask my husband because his colour skills leave something to be desired, but this time, he swayed my mind. I really like this line and am excited to be working with it.
I was debating whether to also get the Modernology anyway and then decide when they showed up, but my fabric budget is simply not that big. It's bigger when I am making things to sell, because then I at least make my cost back. But just for fun stuff has a cost cap.
I only changed two things.
I took out the Mini Diamonds in Blue and Cream and replaced it with Out of Doors in Cream. The diamonds didn't really seem to fit with the rest of my choices and I really liked the leaf print and wanted to include it.
I also went with Kona Charcoal instead of the Soho Charcoal. It was cheaper.
The centres are Moda Bella Cheddar.
And did you know that it was impossible to get all these from one shop!!? I had to order from 4 different Etsy sellers. But they were all super friendly and super helpful.
I love Etsy.
While I am waiting to start those hexies, I have been piecing these ones.
I am squaring it off now because I am running out of hexies with kid identifiable images on them. And really, 4 elephants is plenty. LOTS of these fabrics came from my great swap partners and Flickr and Blogger friends.
You guys rock.
Because so many of you were so generous, I want to return the favour.
I will give one commenter a Domestic Bliss charm pack.
All you have to do is answer this question:
What was your first job?
My first real job was working in a printing factory. It stank in there and I did not like it one bit. My second job was in a bakery and I got to take home broken cookies. I loved it!
Giveaway will end June 27.

Good choice! I think it'll look great with Domestic Bliss!! Especially with the background you've got, it will be a nice pop on that!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I'm not great with real jobs. Babysitting was what I did, but then my first "real, had to fill out tax forms for" job (that lasted more than 3 days...) was in the cafeteria in college. It was fine, and I got to take home free food so that worked. I also worked housekeeping at the same time (not so great). Then I got married, haha!
Great choice on the fabrics, the prints will look great in hexie form!
ReplyDeleteMy first real job was a waitress over Christmas. I had to help out in the kitchen, then it was serving food to the tables. Either plated service-food already on plate....silver service-meat on plate everything else hand served.....family service-meat on plate and every other component on table so they can serve themselves =D
My first job was mowing yards for all of of my parent's friends that lived near us. I loved being outside and doing something with my hands.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Erin

I did lots of babysitting as a kid, but my first real job was coaching dive team.
ReplyDeleteOh don't you wish all fabric was available from every shop? At least I've never had shop from 4 places to fill one quilt order! My first job with a paycheck was taking inventory for a company that would go everywhere from convenience stores to universities to do it, I actually tried it again a decade later it wasn't nearly as much fun!
ReplyDeleteMy first job was as a checkout chick at the local supermarket. I was there for nearly 3 years and it was a great learning experience. I just love those fabrics, thanks so much for having the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI worked as the cashier at the local public pool for two summers as my first job. Thanks for the giveaway. I'm new here through the one stop giveaway site. Glad to be here.

ReplyDeleteMy first job was at a deli. I hated it and was completely abused because I had no concept of labour law. I swore I'd never work in food again... Then ended up a pastry chef!
I was a waitress in a local restaurant, working the morning shift. I hated it, and wasn't very good at it. I dumped a tray of creamers on a customer's head one morning (back in the day when we mixed powdered creamer mix with water and filled small pitchers with the guck). I didn't get fired that day though. Thanks for the chance to win.

I suppose my first job was babysitting - the neighbors hired me to watch their two children all summer for 2-3 years. My first "grown-up" job was working at a fast-food restaurant. So gross - their floors were so greasy you slip-slided from the register to the food area.

ReplyDeleteMy first job (almost) the summer I turned sixteen was going to be a roller skating car hop at a local root beer stand. I interviewed and waited, and waited. ReplyDeleteMy first job was being a Mommy since I became pregnant at the age of 16. Wasn't sure how I was going to raise a child while still a child, but I kept the baby and today, she is 29 and a wonderful, beautiful, caring daughter with 2 kids herself. She's a beautiful little miracle child that proves God DOES have a plan even in our confusion and uncertainties :)
