a few things

It's done!  The quilt I made for my big girl is quilted and bound and washed and on her bed.  She was so proud, she just chucked her old 'baby' quilt in the crib and said that one is for K.

The quilter, Lynn, used gold thread and a butterfly pattern.  I love what she did with it and I'm sorry I don't have a better picture of the quilting.

I've also finished this pillow cover - quilted and put together with an envelope style back along with my stamp.

I used organic Monaluna fabric for the pillow, so it feels gorgeous too.

Then I was inspired by Easter this morning and I whipped up this pillow cover.

I was thinking of doing just a yellow plus surrounded by blue, but this morning it dawned on me that this weekend is Good Friday and Easter Sunday, so I added one more square of yellow to make a cross instead of a plus.  I love this cover too and also want to keep it, but it will probably be up for sale at the Spring Market.

And my trip to the mailbox this morning was not in vain.  I received my Modern Scrappy Bits swap!
Danielle made me this gorgeous divided basket.

It looks similar to the basket pattern from Noodlehead, but my partner didn't say, so I'm just guessing.

She also sent along these wonderful blue and purple scraps for my feather quilt project.

I absolutely love the clothes on the line and those will find their way into different project I'm sure, maybe some Polaroid blocks, because I'm still stashing those too.

sewing for therapy

As you have probably heard, Google reader is kicking the can. It will no longer be around after July... does that mean that if you follow with Google Friend Connect, that you will no longer get my posts?
In any case, you can follow via Bloglovin' now.  That link is in the post below this one.

I've been busy trying to potty train my almost 3 year old and she is, well, doing good I guess, but it sure is making me cranky.  She doesn't seem to get that she has to tell me when she has to go, so I'm always taking her without her telling me she has to go.  If I leave her, she'll just go in her underwear.  Will she learn to tell me when she needs to use the toilet, or is that something they just are ready for or not?  First time potty-trainer here, so I could use a little help and encouragement.

Other than that, I've been trying to get some therapy by sewing.  Anything to brighten my mood.
I designed this maxi dress because I had some people asking me about making them for their girls.  It can be tied halter style or in the back with a bow on a loop coming up from the back.

This was my prototype - I learned that I need to make the skirt a little wider.  Other than that, I am pretty happy with the design.

I'm also getting ready for the Spring Market put on by some ladies from my church.  That means making some more little dresses, but I'm also trying something new this year.

Pillow covers.

Pluses - I'm really loving this one and almost don't want to put it up for sale!

Improv Chevrons - tutorial from Six White Horses.

I quilted the chevron pillow cover with organic straight lines.  I thought it kind of went with the 'organic' chevrons.

change... *sigh*

a few finishes

Oi, I've had a bad digital week. First my email was hacked. Then the computer had a bad case of malware, so it was sent off to get repaired. Then I found out my credit card was hijacked!

You know, I've been using computers for email and payments and such for over 10 years without a problem and then all in one week everything happens.
Hopefully that's it for the next 10 years.

Here's some things I got finished over the last bit.

My Modern Scrappy Bits Swap item was sent out a couple weeks ago and since my partner has since received and posted about what I sent her, so will I.
My partner was Kristel over at Work-in-Progress Girl.  What a great partner!  She was not at all fussy about what she wanted and then even made a blog post to her anonymous partner about things she loved!  That's where I got the Dr. Who information from.  I know nothing of Dr. Who so I had to do some internet searching and I found that he time travels in a TARDIS and he likes when people say that it's "bigger on the inside."  I thought that saying would be perfect for a fabric basket.

Then I stuffed the basket with scraps.  After this photo, I added more... it couldn't be helped.

I also finished the March Skillbuilder BOM. Here's all four so far.

And I finished a bee block for Get Your Hex On.  Mara sent these fabrics and let us make what we wanted, so long as we used the scooter in a corner.

I've also been busy sewing up some skirts and dresses for an upcoming market.  These are so cute!

I got a phone call today that the two quilts I brought in to be quilted are ready to be picked up.  And then to bind them and show them off!  Can't wait as they will be my first real quilts!

a slow week

I didn't do too much on the sewing side this week.
We had beautiful weather and spent one morning outside.  We spent one day shopping.  One day busy in the house... And before you know it the week is over!

I finished off my Solids bee block.

And while I was busy with that, I thought my toddler was being a 'good' busy.  But she wasn't.  She was busy tracing her hand on the pages of a library book.

I haven't even read it yet!  It better be a good book now because I now own it.

I even decided to sort my scraps this week as I had to pull scraps for the Scrappy Swap.

I seem to be fairly lacking in the orange, yellow, and purple departments.
I went looking for purple fabric and I decided that there is a huge gap in the fabric world.  There are not that many great darker purples!  That's a little sad.
